Blue Mountains Aboriginal Social Support Service
Since July 2010 the Blue Mountains Aboriginal Culture and Resource Centre has held funding from Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) to provide an Aboriginal Social Support Service for the Blue Mountains local government area. Our service assists Older Community members aged 50 and over as well as assisting Disabled clients.
Our Aboriginal Social Support Service worker can assist with:
- Meal Assistance (Help with the shopping, help organising Blue Mountains Food Service etc)
- Outings and Day Trips
- Communication with Carer’s, where appropriate
- Friendly Telephone Calls
- Friendly Visiting
- Letter Writing
- Accompanying them to appointments and social activities, liaising with Government departments such as Centrelink and Wentworth Community Housing etc.
All of these services are primarily in place to enable our Elders to continue to live independently in their own homes and with dignity within our community.
ACRC have very successful Elders Lunches and Morning Teas as well as taking our Elders on outings. These outings are designed by the Elders themselves and their input into what they want to do is a great highlight of the service.
If you would like more information about our Elders Support Service please do not hesitate to call Sebria at ACRC on (02) 4782 6569 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
